Frequently Asked Questions
How far are the runs?
Well, that depends…how far did you want to go? Our standard routes tend to be between 3 and 6 miles, but we're happy to customize runs based on training needs and/or specific sites you want to see.
Note: Please provide RunBoston advance notice if you plan to run more than 8-10 miles. How will I find the RunBoston Guides?
Most runs begin and end at local T (subway) stops. If that doesn't work for you, we can find you! Just let us know which hotel you're staying in, and we'll meet you in the lobby.
Do I have to run fast?
No! The RunBoston guides are at their most comfortable at a "conversation pace." We are happy to slow down or speed up a bit as needed to suit your pace--and to take a break at any time, whether it be for a breath of fresh air, or to take in the scenery.
Where do we run?
Anywhere you want! We've created a few routes of between 3 and 6 miles that run by an assortment of historic or scenic sites in Boston, but let us know what it is YOU want to see--and we'll create a customized route taking that, and your desired mileage, into account.
What if the weather is bad?RunBoston tour guides are like the USPS, we are open for business in rain, sleet, or snow. We plan on running, unless conditions are unsafe, or unless you call us 24 hours in advance. If such conditions exist, please call us to discuss other arrangements.
The RunBoston Guides are strangers. Just how "strange" are they?
Both of us (Abby and Jared) tend to run together with our customers, therefore, a woman won't have to worry about running with a "strange" man alone (and visa versa). We respect the fact that you might feel a little awkward about running with complete strangers, but we have plenty of stories and knowledge about the area- so let us do the talking.
